***We are currently reviewing applications recently received to this role. The information on this page has been left for reference, but may be out of date.***
This role is open to all living in either of the Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire areas.
The Independent Mental Health Network (IMHN) and its branches in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), are supporting the development and improvement of the local mental health system – both in response to the impacts caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but also in meeting the mental health needs of local populations and communities.
IMHN facilitates the BNSSG Mental Health Lived Experience Steering Group. This group scrutinises the work of local health commissioners, authorities, and mental health service/support providers. We are looking for people with lived experience of mental health and accessing mental health services; who live in either the Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire areas; to join this steering group as lived experience representatives.
Examples of the projects that the group has been involved with include
- the mobilisation of proposals to use emergency funding in order to provide support to the local mental health system in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic
- scrutinising the approach to patient and public involvement undertaken by the local Clinical Commissioning Group during the coronavirus pandemic
- commenting on the development of the local approach to implementing the NHS’ Community Mental Health Framework
Representatives will need to be available to attend fortnightly steering group meetings, which currently take place on Wednesday mornings. A participation payment of £25 per two-hour meeting attended will be paid.
Apply to join the group today – please click here and fill out the webform.
We are particularly interested in receiving applications from people that identify as members of LGBTQ+; or Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities.
