Fauzia Ahmed – Engagement CoordinatorHi, I’m Fauzia, I’m new to the Bristol IMHN team 🙂 I’m looking forward to my new engagement coordinator role and hope to build on my previous experience in the same role for Greater Manchester IMHN. I’ve spent some time meeting IMHN reps to find all about how things are going for everyone, and to help me work out where best to focus my time as I get started. I’ve made a start on supporting our lived experience representatives (LERs) in the following: Localities:
Specialist Pathways:
I hope to keep you all updated on how that’s all going on in our monthly newsletter. I’ve always loved working in mental health. I have my own lived experience which led me to study counselling. I’m now a BACP-accredited counsellor and have previously worked predominantly in children and young person’s counselling services, and in an NHS trauma counselling service. I’m also working in Greater Manchester to support peer workers across the region. For more about my background, please feel free to link in with me at https://www.linkedin.com/in/fauzia-ahmed-268986b9/ I’m excited about my new role as I always love working with LERs given their clear passion and dedication. It’s really great to be a part of something so meaningful alongside so many who I learn so much from. If you’d ever like to get in touch, I’d love to hear from you. I’m at |

Nicky Green – Engagement Coordinator“I’m Nicky and I am excited to introduce myself as the latest Engagement Coordinator to join the Independent Mental Health Network team in Bristol. My personal lived experience and experience of my family led me to start working in mental health services after completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology.
Over the past 5-10 years I have worked in various senior support worker/support worker and recovery navigation roles within both the charity and private sector for mental health support. I have predominantly worked in personality disorders services and community services supporting those with complex needs.
I loved working with users of mental health services to support their recovery but hearing and experiencing frustrations led me to complete a master’s in social work research. My dissertation for my master’s explored the key components of a coproduced trauma-informed training program being delivered to mental health professionals.
Key findings when exploring the training from the perspective of the attendees and the lived experience trainers highlighted empowerment and equality in true coproduction and its effect on overcoming challenges faced. I am passionate about the value and promotion of lived experience knowledge and coproduction in improving mental health services. I am very much looking forward to working with the Independent Mental Health Network” |
