ABC

ABC (Anorexia Bulimia Care) is a national UK eating disorders organisation. Their telephone and email support services are operating as usual. They also offer online peer support groups and a befriending service – click here to read the latest updates.

Alzheimer’s Society

The Alzheimer’s Society run the  Dementia Connect support line, personalised information, support and advice. The support line is open

  • Mondays to Wednesdays between 9am and 8pm
  • Thursdays and Fridays between 9am and 5pm
  • Saturdays and Sundays between 10am and 4pm

Anxiety UK

Anxiety UK operate a telephone helpline, open Mondays to Fridays between 9.30am and 5.30pm (excluding bank holidays) on 03444 775774. They also operate an email support service during these hours at , or you can text them on 07537 416 905.

Beat Eating Disorders

Beat is the UK’s Eating Disorder charity. Their telephone helpline is open between 9am and Midnight Monday to Friday, and between 4pm and Midnight on weekends. They also offer a web chat, and support via email. Click here for more information.

The team have started a new online support group in response to the Coronavirus and the subsequent social distancing and the anxieties this could lead to for people with an eating disorder. This group, The Sanctuary, (not to be confused with commissioned mental health services named The Sanctuary), is available daily from 5pm. Click here for information about this project.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) Helpline

CALM deliver a webchat service and phone helpline for people in the UK who are down or have ‘hit a wall’, and who need to talk or find information and support. Both services are available from 5pm to midnight, 365 days a year. The service is operating as normal. Click here for more information. The helpline number is 0800 58 585 58.

Each (Educational Action Challenging Homophobia) Helpline

EACH provides a free and confidential, homophobic, biphobic or transphobic bullying reporting service for children and young people up to 18 years of age. If you have been a target of this type of bullying you can call their free Helpline on 0808 1000 143 (available Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 4:30pm). Click here for more information. Galop National LGBT+ Domestic Abuse Helpline

Emotional and practical support for LGBT+ people experiencing domestic abuse. Their helpline is open between 10am and 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays; and between 10am and 8pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Kaleidoscope+ Group Crisis Text Line

Trained volunteers are on-hand to provide support to people in crisis via text, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Text ‘TeamKPG’ to 85258. The service is operating as normal.

Mindline Trans+ 

Mindline Trans+ offers a free listening service to anyone who needs to talk, as well as information on other services that may be able to help you. It is operating as normal, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm to midnight. The number is 0300 330 5468.

Papyrus HOPELINEUK

If you’re under 35 and struggling with suicidal feelings, or concerned about a young person who might be struggling, you can call the Papyrus HOPELINEUK on 0800 068 4141, email , or text 07786 209 697. The helpline is now available every day of the year (including weekends and bank holidays) between 9am and midnight. The service is currently operating as normal.

Samaritans provide a non-judgemental listening service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The phone lines are operating as normal.

SANEline

If you’re experiencing a mental health problem or supporting someone else, you can call SANEline on 0300 304 7000 (4:30pm to 10:30pm every day). The service is operating as normal. Last updated 20th March.


Self Injury Support

Self Injury Support’s team support women and girls who are dealing with self-injury.

You can currently contact Self Injury Support by phone, text or email. The webchat service is temporarily closed, and hopefully re-opening early in 2022.

Silver Line is a national, free and confidential helpline dedicated to older people. They offer information, friendship and advice, or just someone to chat to. The helpline is open 24 hours a day, seven days a year. Call them on 0800 4708090. The service is operating as normal.

Shout operate a text service for people experiencing a personal crisis, and operates 24 hours a day. Text ‘Shout’ to 85258. The service is operating as normal.

Switchboard
If you identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, you can call Switchboard on 0300 330 0630, or email , or use their webchat service. Phone operators all identify as LGBT+. The phone line is available between 10am to 10pm everyday. The service is operating as normal.

Support, guidance and information for anyone caring for a bereaved child or a child facing the imminent death of a family member. This helpline is open from Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 5pm on 08088 020 021. You can also email Winston’s Wish – .
